It absolutely doesn't. I was just reading a piece in, of all places, Air Mail, Graydon Carter's pet project after he left the editorship of Vanity Fair, and it punched me in the gut midway through that one of the books the writer takes Janet Malcolm to task about is exactly Genia's fate as Susan describes in Queen's Gambit in the Gondal series. (The piece lays out a pretty convincing case against Freud, and I acknowledge this as someone who's been in analysis with two Freudians.)

And I wanted to send it to Susan pronto, and — couldn't.
