Sounds like Geraint is enjoying himself, for what that's worth. I hope you and Opal can live with him, when he's sorted out a bit.

I hope so, too. So far, I haven’t succeeded in teaching him to poo in his litterbox. He’ll pee in it, but not poo.

Well. That's aggravating. From the cat point of view, it might help to have another litter box for him, in a different place, or a deeper one for burying poo? What did he have at the shelter or adoption place (if they will say he did or didn't use it)? I'd think leaving poo is aggressively claiming territory, and it sounds like he's still establishing his territory in your house.

And, just to check, is Opal still happy with her space now, even if she's too much of a lady to pee on things? She sounds like a much quieter and maybe human-focused cat.
