The other day, I went to the hospital (Ysbty Gwynedd) for an x-ray of my knees. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, which is excellent service.

Phone call this morning and I do have osteoarthritis in both knees. I suspected as much. I have a doctors' appointment later this month to discuss the outcome and maybe some treatment. It is likely that I will get a lecture about my weight. So, we'll see.

I hope that they find some treatments that really help your knees. Mine have no cartilege left so i have some idea how painful arthritic knees can be.

Everything is about weight, including why your aunt's tea cosy is a pink knitted one. It is known!

I second this - i had a doctor who told me my allergic dermatitis was due to my weight.

I was so angry at his weight comment - i think it had something to do with my weight keeping me from exercising which would somehow magically make my skin not break out in hives on contact with certain types of plastic. No, i don't get it either.

Ouchie. Fingers crossed diagnosis leads to ideas that might help.

Doctors always make everything about weight. Years ago, I took a survey of my female friends. "What does the doctor say to you when you're there for pretty much any medical issues". My fat friends said, "The doctor says lose weight!" I asked my thin female friends the same question if there was no obvious problem, like a broken bone. The answer - "It's all in your mind." I labeled this the "fat or crazy" practice of healthcare, and later added menopause to the list.
