ETAAs a further attraction, I shall be going. I have already decided, though I haven't yet talked to [livejournal.com profile] aunty_marion about sitting Smokey. Plus, it's only a week after my gaming event in Wales, which is irritating.

Well, as far as I know, I haven't got anything else booked. I'll pencil you (and Smokey!) in, then, shall I?

Is that 16th-21st? I'm assuming the BH is August 27th.

The finances are of course a big question, and would depend entirely on the price of airline tickets. The biggest obstacle, though, is physical ability. Back in 2004 I had a bad injury to my left ankle, and that was my "good leg". The change in my gait aggravated two injuries to my right foot which happened when I was in my teens. They have caused me a lot of trouble over the years since they were never properly treated due to inadequate health care at the time of the injuries.
I now have end-stage arthritis in both feet and my left ankle. The only surgical option is so dangerous my podiatrist will only consider it in an emergency situation. At this point, I'm supposed to avoid walking and standing as much as possible for the rest of my life.
I have no mobility in either foot and can't bend my left ankle. Because of this I have a great deal of trouble walking on slanted surfaces, and because of balance problems it's nearly impossible to walk on uneven surfaces such as anything other than flat floors and sidewalks. Fortunately, it's very flat where I live and work and I only go to stores and restaurants with ample parking.
I've been talking to the Kismet organizers about these issues. The problem is the transportation from the airport to the venue and back again. Ideally, of course, I'd want to spend some time in England visiting friends.
Finances may make the possibility moot, but I'm still hoping there's a way to make this trip possible.
