I do hate software, I wish computers just worked - I've just had to uninstall ZoneAlarm from my desktop because installing it on the laptop led to the realisation that it hasn't beem updating properly.
On the other hand, every time Windows updates, my computer has a nervous collapse and has to be cossetted into behaving properly again.
All Linux and Mac users will now say, "Ah, Windows, there's your problem right there," but that would be exceptionally unhelpful.

Feel free to growl at the Mac users who say such things; too. Maybe their Macs magically require no maintenance and never goof up, but theirs are the exception. I've watched my parents fight through enough setup procedures, reset procedures, software updates, OS updates and consequent memory problems, screen issues, and iCloud issues (to say nothing of Apple userID and password issues) that I'm firmly convinced there's nothing to choose between them.

I'm convinced of it, too, but some people will have that it isn't so. Same with Linux users - I have a friend on FB who's a Linux nut.
