When I was younger, I used to long to be Jessica Fletcher or Miss Marple. I thought it would be wonderful to have that kind of insight.

Now...I'm not so sure. Imagine the stress and hassle of having just about everyone you know wrongfully accused of murder. People dropping dead wherever you go. It just couldn't be bourne.

I loved Simon Brett's Charles Paris mysteries, but given how superstitious thesps are traditionally supposed to be, I'm surprised he ever got offered any theatrical jobs whatsoever after about book 2. Possibly his really crap agent was not the only reason for his stalled career...

I loved those books! I should re-read them, but that would involve finding them second hand as I'm not buying them new again.
