Overheard

I was walking to work the other morning when this bloke walked past me. He was on his mobile and just as he drew level with me he said, "But what about the woman in the cupboard?"

Er…what?

And the real tragedy is that I'll never now find out what about the woman in the cupboard.

Damned with faint praise

My brother took his kids on holiday to Cornwall. Camping. That was obviously his first mistake. He was round at my mother's with his sons, telling my mother about their holiday when one of his sons said, "It was fun some of the time, Dad."

Oh, that's precious! Especially the woman in the cupboard. *g*

*g* I love letting my imagination running wild on such things! I don't even want a logical explanation there. If there actually is one, of course.

It left me wondering whether there was any connection between the woman in the cupboard and the girl in the fireplace.

"It was fun some of the time"? Just about sums up every time I've been camping.

*goes out to get camping stuff together for next weekend*

Actually, yes that sounds likely.

Or that Japanese woman who lived in someone's closet for a year undetected.

Or I saw a clip of the funniest music videos and it included a clip from R Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet", a hip-hopera (hip hop opera) that has been released in 23 segments so far ...

[Nods] Yes, very possible.

I'm sure that the reality could never live up to your imagination in this case!

Only too true, I fear.

It was fun some of the time

This is true for most camping holidays I ever did. And some things were a lot more fun when they were safely in the past...

[identity profile] lexin.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never been camping. It's going to stay that way.

Reminds me of the time I was walking down Oxford Street during the pre-Christmas rush and heard a middle-aged man on his phone telling someone that the gift he got them was, 'Great, definitely worth anal this time'. I never got to see the bag he was holding, I've always kind of wondered about that...

Now you've got me wondering.

Sometimes folks forget that they're having their "private" conversations in very public places. Hmm, "woman in the cupboard"? Maybe there's a plot bunny there, m'dear... :)

I was on a train once, reading a book in German, while the couple sat opposite me were planning to get an elderly relative to give them a (presumably) valuable painting. I made sure to say 'goodbye' to them in English before they got off the train.

I'm hoping the cupboard lady is just very small.

Ah, camping. Or as my mother liked to call it, "my weekend off doing everything I always do only outside without electricity and proper sanitation". lol

Sounds like a smart kid.

I'm with your mother. I'm never, ever going camping - it's holiday cottages or I don't go.
