flashslash 102, set 1
Original fiction: this time just David and his chaperone. The prompts didn't get me anywhere fast, here. Flashslash #102, Set 1
Set 1 ass forget/forgot/forgotten traipse collection
"Don't be an ass!" David looked at his brother, annoyed. "I can't marry someone unless he's asked. Or I've asked him. One or the other. And then Uncle Richard has to give his approval."
"Why don't you ask, then?" Gerry grinned, madly.
"Me?"
"You said you could, or did you forget within the last few seconds."
"I told you not to be an ass, Gerry. I suggest you take my advice or I'll be giving you a clip round the ear, let alone your tutor."
Gerry's face fell, "You wouldn't."
David relented, "No, I probably wouldn't." He picked up his books, and dropped them into a bag, "I've got to traipse off to the university. Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone."
"As if I could. Nothing happens here."
David thought of all the things which had happened to them already, but forbore to comment. He didn't want to make things more complicated than they were already.
In the hall he found Radlett waiting for him. "Have we time to go to the dressmakers?" she asked.
"I suppose so," David said. "We're going in the carriage and it's on our way. Why? Does she have a new collection?" He knew that Radlett was fond of new clothes - they were her main failing.
"Will we see your young man?" she said.
"I hope so," said David. In fact he looked forward daily to a possible meeting with James. How exactly his beloved arranged his work so that he was at the university at the end of lectures David did not quite like to ask in case he stopped doing it.
"Good." Radlett leaned back. "What lectures do you have?"
"We're looking at criticism with Dr Alphonse..."
