I see in the news that the King has been diagnosed with cancer.

I feel sorry for him in that way one feels sorry for people to whom one is not connected in any way but who are going through a rather bad time.

I hope it's a type of cancer which has a good survival rate - my Aged P had bowel cancer in 1991, was operated on in 1992 and then survived until 2011 when she died of a heart attack. So she survived the cancer really well.

It would be good if he survived like that - we've already spent a ton of public money on the late Queen's funeral and the subsequent Coronation. I know people may think me mean, but I am sort of mean. Sorry.

Given his known views on waste, he would probably agree with you about the ton of public money. There were smoke signals from the palace about not wanting a full on extravaganza, but the monarch's personal wishes are fairly low down the priority order when it comes to organizing a major state function with a large side order of international diplomacy attached.
