My delivery firm brought me a huge pork joint, which I think I will have to cut up and freeze half. I asked for lamb as well, but they didn’t bring me any of that. Plus, no tins of anything, meaning that I’ll have to eat what they brought and live on breakfast cereal when that runs out. Sigh.

Or, I could try an alternative company and see what they bring me. Alternative won’t be Tesco or Morrisons as they don’t have delivery slots I can book.

My entire life seems to have become either work or buying food. Or reading the latest Lindsay Davis.

I’ve observed this too — supply has become problematic in a way it wasn’t before. My ongoing tally of How Much Toilet Paper Is Left is much higher in my brain than it used to be, and when I actually got down to the last roll, my plan to get more occupied my mind for about three days.

I'm all right with toilet roll (I have about 90 rolls in the flat) but I was the same about breakfast cereal when I got down to about one serving. It filled my mind, even though I had other options for breakfast, like toast. And when I ran out of bread...nightmare. I mean a literal nightmare about food disappearing.

Do they have any of the shopping services like Shipt in the UK? My friends here have been having more luck with those than with individual shops.

I use Shift, which must be the same sort of thing? They actually go shopping for me rather than using the shop's own delivery service. It's expensive (£10 a week) but for that they always have delivery slots for their subscribers, and at the moment that something I'm prepared to pay for.

Can you get Morrison's Food Boxes where you are? You don't get to choose what's in the box, but they do next day delivery.

I can't seem to get a delivery of those where I am.
