My "smart" phone is a Samsung Galaxy Europa running Android 2.2. Why might it Googlemaps on this phone think I'm in Germany when I'm actually in Britain?

Not that it's vitally important right this minute, I'm working from home and am therefore in an up-and-coming area of east London and know my way around pretty well. But one of these days they're going to hold a Party or faction meeting in some distant pub and I'll need to find my way there and back.

It doesn't actually matter where the phone thinks you are if you just type in the address to and the address from, it will map properly.

If you want to use "my location", you need to turn something on in settings. On mine, it's a GPS icon that's on the top of the notifications page.

Good luck?

I have a different i-device that thinks I'm in London, I think because i have that email address registered at amazon.uk. It's always amusing to click maps on, then type in the address and have it zip across the ocean.
